Con..vivalicious
Located in the improved Shaw neighborhood, this beauty sits right on the corner of 8th and O st NW, the location.. a great one, the atmosphere.. very warm and very inviting, the staff.. beyond accommodating, I wanted for nothing. For starters our waiter recommended the Cinnamon bun which practically melts in your mouth, the outer layer very flaky, the middle very fluffy, the finish very sweet but not overpowering making the cinnamon our main focus.
The Fried Chicken and Waffle stole my heart, although the chicken was coated in gravy, the breading on the outside kept its crunch, the waffle (the foundation of it all) was very crispy, which is usually a problem for me, but because it was served under the egg prepared over medium, and fried chicken coated in gravy, if the waffle was served soft by the time I was done taking all of my pics the waffle would have been soggy and lord knows I hateeeee soggy bread. The flavors were well balanced, the chicken? very moist in the inside and seasoned to perfection. My tongue pulsated with excitement after every bite.
I usually hate marshmallow's, if you can get me to eat any, then kudos to you! Congratulations are in order after this restaurant got me to try not one, but two different deserts with marshmallow's in them. This is their spin on a s'more, Now listen, I was never the girl at camp who happily gathered around campfires making s'mores, if anything I was always inside trying to get away from the mosquito's who fearlessly ate me alive and the flies whom I've never been fond of sharing my food with. The texture of cooked marshmallows freak me out, idk it's something about the goo! Which is why I was blown away when I scooped at this delicious delectable and found what lied underneath the silky layer of this torched marshmallow, the gift that keeps on giving, a layer of chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, traces of graham cracker and caramel. mmmm.. pretty good for my first time! Its going to be so hard to eat anyone else's idea of a s'more after this experience. I went in with no clue as to what a s'more tasted like, now I can say my s'more standards are extremely high and we have Chef Cedric Maupillier to thank for that.
