MY SIN.....Requin
Requin is arguably one of Mike Isabella's best establishments here in DC. Located at The newly renovated Wharf, this restaurant has instantly become one of my favorites. I still can't believe that somewhere I use to go as a child to pick up crabs with my family, now houses one of my favorite restaurtants. The view of the waterfront is simply breathtaking, I could not think of a better place to host my birthday dinner.
From the bartenders to the servers, everyone is really down to earth, they do their best to make your visit comfortable. So comfortable that you may look at the time 4 hours later and wonder how you were even able to be there that long. I am guilty of hanging around everytime I visit lol I could definitely live there.
Now lets get into the EATS!!! The party started once I ordered the Crab Pappardelle, which features english peas, crab, parmesan, and truffle finished with a espelette crumble. My first thought after digging into this dish was WOW even once I finished I had to tussle with my waiter because I was determined to savor every last ingredient. This dish was full of flavor, super creamy with a huge crunch.
The Crispy Skin Black Bass was what set this birthday apart from all of the others. The flavors bounced off of the plate, The skin was so flaky, yet the meat of the fish kept its texture and remained moist, the maryland crab fried rice which peeked from behind the fresh parsely was seasoned to perfection and went perfectly with the marinated cucumber salad and the coconut curry emulsion. I appreciated the way each dish played an important role in the construction of this dish, every ingredient was well thought out, every bite becoming better each time I took a bite at something else. Every single dish consumed by this establishment has surpassed my expectations. It's with honor that I add this establishment to my list of culinary orgasms.
